On January 9, Donald Trump and his legal team will appeal Judge Tanya Chutkan’s ruling on presidential immunity. This ruling had rejected Trump’s motion to dismiss the January 6 case on the grounds of presidential immunity.
On January 16, E. Jean Carroll’s defamation trial will take a new turn with the start of a second civil suit. The charge relates to allegations of defamation made by Carroll in June 2019, when Donald Trump had denied assaulting her in a Manhattan department store in the mid-1990s. The question of the amount of damages to be paid will be at the heart of this new legal strand.
