A "mishap"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described a strike by the Israeli army a few days ago, which hit the front of a hospital in southern Gaza and killed 20 people, as a “tragic mishap”.
Medical staff

According to the New York Times, 15 of the 20 victims of this sudden strike were medical staff, rescue workers and patients.
Palestinian journalists

The five others who died were Palestinian journalists who had previously worked for media outlets such as Reuters, the Associated Press and Al Jazeera.
A series of strikes

The Israeli military authorities did not explain why the hospital had been targeted in a series of strikes carried out in its area. They did, however, express regret for “any harm to uninvolved individuals“.
"Israel deeply regrets"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also reacted to the situation, stating that “Israel deeply regrets the tragic mishap that occurred today at the Nasser Hospital in Gaza“.

He added that “Israel valued the work of journalists and medical staff … Israel’s war was with Hamas“.
