The first time I remember seeing twins was in preschool, when two of my classmates were a pair, and five-year-old me felt nothing but fascination. I thought having someone who looked almost exactly like you was one of the coolest things a person could possibly experience. Had I been born in another place or century, however, that reaction could’ve been very different.
