FOX News scoops up former press secretary Karoline Leavitt

One of the most blatant propagandists of the Trump administration has landed a new gig, and it's one that should fit her talents beautifully. Karoline Leavitt, the former White House press secretary who was unceremoniously (and unofficially) dumped by Trump after years of faithful truth-altering and free press suppression, has been picked up by America's biggest propaganda network: FOX News. While Trump has maintained his very public approval with FOX, having hired multiple ex-correspondents to his cabinet (see Pete Hegseth, Sean Duffy and Mehmet Oz), now FOX is returning the favour, hiring the jobless Leavitt as a commentator despite her complete lack of qualifications.

Why did Leavitt leave the White House?

According to Leavitt, who just had her second child, she stepped down in order to spend more time with her family, but the decision clashed with years of statements from the former press secretary. Leavitt had spent most of 2025 and 2026 speaking about how Conservative women could ‘have it all', meaning a career and motherhood. Leavitt consistently said she planned to continue her career in the White House after the birth of her second child, but just months later, she stepped down, saying she needed to dedicate more time to her family.

Leavitt made it very clear before stepping down that she was focused on remaining at Donald Trump's side, and she also made it clear that leaving her role was her choice. There is no evidence that Leavitt was forced out of her position, but she made it clear she intended to stay after the birth of her second child. Leavitt has long been a vocal supporter of mothers staying employed after childbirth. Now, after nearly two months without a job, it appears as though Leavitt has used her favour with the Trump administration to leverage a role at FOX News, where she can continue to use her skills as a propagandist for Trump and the MAGA movement.

Leavitt's legacy at the podium

Karoline Leavitt, 29, became America's youngest press secretary after being appointed by Trump following his successful 2024 campaign. She quickly established herself as a force at the podium, willing to say or do anything in order to back Trump and his cabinet. She spent her time at the podium verbally lashing out at journalists, spouting provable lies on National television, and refusing to apologize for any of it. Karoline Leavitt was caught spreading disinformation more than a dozen times, and no subject was free from story-spinning. Leavitt proved herself as one of Donald Trump's handiest tools, doing work that his elected politicians were often unwilling to do.

When Leavitt was caught in a lie, she didn't try to obfuscate or deflect blame; she would simply double down on her lie, calling journalists and major news organizations liars instead of admitting to a misstep or to obvious propaganda. Karoline Leavitt survived an impressive amount of controversy during her time at the lectern, making her an incredible ally to the Trump administration. Leavitt acted as a mouthpiece for Trump, and her words often shifted attention away from the President and towards her. While her impact on the American public has been detrimental, nobody can deny her effectiveness as a propagandist; perhaps she is qualified for her new role at FOX…

The MAGA-FOX connection

Donald Trump's relationship with FOX News is interesting to analyze. Without the network, it's highly unlikely that Donald Trump would have been elected in either 2016 or 2024, but the President's favour has been difficult for FOX to retain. Recently, the President has been vocally critical of FOX, as the network battles to do journalism while perpetuating the President's lies. It's becoming abundantly clear that FOX is growing uneasy at the path ot's forced down. With Trump's administration no longer trying to hide its lies or propaganda, FOX News is in a tough spot.

FOX News' viewership is overwhelmingly Conservative; it's also overwhelmingly poor. While Donald Trump has successfully cornered the demographic of low-income Americans, that same demographic is also struggling as a direct result of Donald Trump's choices. While he promised to lower grocery, gas, and cost-of-living prices, all of those have gone up since he was elected in 2024. Alongside those price rises, Trump has slashed Medicaid, SNAP, and other social programs that millions of red-state Trump voters rely on every day.

This has FOX News trapped; their viewers are all pro-Trump and are also being negatively affected by the very same man. It is FOX News' job to inform their viewers how Trump is changing their lives for the worse, but the organization is also facing unimaginable pressure from Trump to do the exact opposite. The result has been programming that flip-flops between trying (and failing) to criticize Trump, and programming that is purely pro-Trump propaganda. It's safe to assume that new-hire Karoline Leavitt will fall into the second category.
