Acclaimed director David Lynch dies at 78

Acclaimed director and favorite of movie buffs David Lynch has died, reports the New York Times.

His works, marked by disturbing atmospheres and striking images, quickly pleased seasoned audiences since the 80s and 90s.

Lynch directed great pieces of work like the critically acclaimed The Elephant Man (1980) and Blue Velvet (1986).

Twin Peaks (1990-1991), redefined television series with its blend of mystery, drama and the supernatural.

His impact on cinema and television is immense, influencing several generations of creators. With Mulholland Drive (2001), often considered a masterpiece, Lynch was a major figure in contemporary art.

David Lynch also created the infamous Dune from 1984, as well as the very original Lost Highway in 1997.

He was 78 years old.
