Actress Shelley Duvall dies at 75

Shelley Duvall, Robert Altman’s muse who starred in seven films directed by her mentor, has died.

Her most emblematic role, however, as the wife martyred by a deranged Jack Nicholson at the height of his career in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, is the one that will endure forever in the imagination of cinephiles around the world.

Duvall reportedly died in her sleep from complications of diabetes at her home in Texas, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her long-time partner confirmed her death, according to the same source.

The actress was 75 years old.
