Former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez is reportedly interested in becoming a shareholder of the financially troubled Florida Marlins .

The former slugger could thus realize his dream of owning an MLB team. What’s more, his hometown team. In 2020,Alex Rodriguez and his former fiancée Jennifer Lopez came in second in their bid to buy the New York Mets.

The Florida Marlins, owned byBruce Sherman and associates, have suffered significant financial losses since they purchased the team fromJeffrey Loria for $1.2 billion (US) five years ago. Among other problems, the Marlins are drawing 15,000 fewer fans per game than thenew owners’ original goals.

According to the New York Post, citing a person close to Alex Rodriguez with knowledge of the talks, the former Yankeesaid his interest “would depend on the price.”
