The showdown between Trump and New York Attorney General Letitia James has therefore been postponed, as the judge has given the former president more time to get the money together. James was due to start seizing Trump’s assets to offset a $454 million fine that Trump says he can’t pay. The court also granted Trump an additional ten days to collect the funds in addition to significantly reducing bail.
The New York appellate court’s order currently allows Trump and his children to continue running a business in New York and obtaining loans from the state’s financial institutions.
When this decision was made, Trump and his legal team were present at another hearing, for the trial of the bribery case in New York. They were discussing the possibility of delaying a case concerning payments made to Stormy Daniels. Trump’s legal team claimed that prosecutors had filed documents too late to be able to verify them before proceedings began.
