Bomb threat confirmed in Springfield, Ohio

Thursday morning in Springfield, Ohio, City Hall and several other buildings were evacuated due to a bomb threat. City authorities reacted quickly after receiving an e-mail at 8:24 a.m. threatening several public buildings as well as local media.

The threat was taken very seriously by the authorities, who prioritized the safety of the employees concerned as well as Springfield residents. A city spokesperson asked residents to stay away from City Hall during the police response.

Local police and neighboring jurisdictions responded quickly to the scene and maintained a strong police presence throughout the morning.

The city of Springfield, Ohio, is also at the center of unfounded rumors spread by the former U.S. president.

The incident takes place in a particular context, influenced by controversial statements made during the presidential debate, where Trump had shocked by claiming that migrants were eating the pets of Springfield residents.

These statements were refuted as false allegations stemming from a conspiracy theory. However, they were amplified, notably by Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance and Elon Musk, inflaming right-wing social media.
