The 35-year-old didn’t bury his head in the sand about it, and he gave details about why he decided to enter the player assistance program offered by the NHL and the Players’ Association.

It goes back to October 2021, when Marc Bergevin and the Montreal Canadiens announced this news to the people, which resonated loudly across the province.

At the time, the exact reason was not known, but it was finally announced months later.

Prior to his entry into the program, Price mentioned that every Sunday after a night of drinking he would get up and tell himself he would never do it again, but he always did.

Price opted for a center, as he felt it was best for him to take a step back and get away from it all to put his brain on pause.

Hearing the stories of others there who were going through the same thing as him helped him greatly, making him take responsibility for changing his life.

Carey Price’s fear, like many proud athletes, was to face the judgment of others, the public, his teammates and Quebec. But he took the plunge and realized that people are less judgmental than you might think.

Thank you, Carey, for this authenticity, it will do everyone good!
