Dr. Phil is back!

“Dr. Phil moves to prime time.”

Dr. Phil announced that he would be returning to a primetime show, nearly a year after announcing the end of his daily show after 21 seasons.

“It’s official. Dr. Phil is coming to prime time. Again. A new network. It doesn’t get any bigger than that,” he announced on X.

At 73, Dr. Phil will thus be at the helm of a daily show filmed in front of a live audience resembling his old show, but on a brand-new TV channel launched by the star, Merit Street Media, starting February 26.

According to People, Phil McGraw has for many years expressed his desire to reach a wider audience and move closer to prime time to increase his impact on his audience:

“I am compelled to engage with a broader audience because I have grave concerns for the American family, and I am determined to help restore a clarity of purpose as well as our core values.”

Phil McGraw became an American TV superstar thanks to his daily show, Dr. Phil, which first aired in 2002. On his show, he offered advice and guidance to individuals and families facing a wide range of personal and relationship problems.

His pragmatic approach and often brutal delivery quickly became his signature.

Dr. Phil Primetime premieres on February 26.
