FBI warn citizens, worries about an attack today

The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI have expressed concern about the risk of attacks by “lone wolves”.

They issued warnings to the public, urging Americans to be vigilant during the many festivities planned across the country.

According to CNN, authorities fear a potential attack during Macy’s July 4th fireworks celebrations in New York.

However, they emphasize that no location or event across the U.S. is safe from a “lone wolf” attack, a type of attack that is particularly difficult to thwart.

In particular, the authorities fear that individuals motivated by racial, ethnic, political, religious, anti-government or personal grievances, or by tensions linked to the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, will take action.

They describe this threat profile as “the most significant terrorist threat” in connection with the July 4th celebrations.

Although no specific threats have been reported to date, the tense political climate and the multiplication of recent incidents are fuelling their vigilance.
