Golden Globes: Barbie, Oppenheimer and Succession are dominating

Now that the official nominations have been announced for the Golden Globe Awards, the buzz surrounding the event is at an all-time high. The ceremony will showcase the best of film and television in 2023, and three names stand out as the winners of this year’s nominations: Barbie, Oppenheimer and Succession!

Barbie was nominated for nine awards, including Best Film – Comedy or Musical.

Greta Gerwig received two nominations, in the Best Director and Best Screenplay categories (alongside Noah Baumbach).

Margot Robbie was nominated in the Best Actress – Comedy, and Ryan Gosling received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor – Comedy.

Oppenheimer, which traces the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer and the creation of the atomic bomb, received eight nominations, including Best Drama.

Director Christopher Nolan received two nominations.

Cillian Murphy’s performance as J. Robert Oppenheimer earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Drama. Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt each picked up a nomination for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama.

Composer Ludwig Göransson received a nomination for Best Original Score.

The final season of HBO’s critically acclaimed Succession series was nominated for nine Golden Globes, including Best Dramatic TV Series.

Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong compete in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Dramatic Television Series category, while Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Matthew Macfadyen, Alan Ruck, Alexander Skarsgård and J. Smith-Cameron each earned a nomination.
