California Governor Gavin Newsom moved quickly to reassure residents after a federal intelligence memo warned that Iran may have explored the possibility of launching a drone attack against targets in the state.

The alert, circulated by the FBI to law enforcement agencies, suggested Iranian actors had discussed the scenario as a potential response if the United States carried out military strikes against Iran.

While the bulletin raised concern among security officials, Newsom stressed that authorities had identified no imminent threat to California. The memo nonetheless prompted heightened vigilance among federal and local agencies, reflecting growing tensions between Washington, its allies and Tehran following recent military confrontations.
