Marc-André Grondin gave a (too) rare interview to Jean-Philippe Wauthier.
The actor spoke of the recent passing of two Quebec cinema giants who also left their mark on his career, notably with C.R.A.Z.Y.: Jean-Marc Vallée and Michel Côté.
“I think we’re losing a lot of film people these days, it’s tough,” says Wauthier.
“Yes,” replies the actor.
“Michel Côté, who passed not long ago (…) you’re inevitably linked with Michel for the rest of your life. I know you paid tribute to him (…) A year before, it was Jean-Marc. It’s big, isn’t it? They’re big losses,” asks Jean-Philippe.
“Big losses. Jean-Marc, of course, is someone who’s been very close to me since I was 8-9 years old. Michel and I didn’t see each other as much, but we loved each other very much. When you go through something like the shooting of C.R.A.Z.Y., and everything afterwards, it unites us. When we saw each other, it was as if we’d always been together” explains Marc-André Grondin.
The actor also reveals that several people thought of him when Michel Côté’s death was announced.
“I think in their minds, I’m like his son in the movies,” he says.
“He took his work seriously, but he didn’t take himself too seriously!” he concludes.
