Donald Trump is the least professional president of all time. America’s oldest president routinely makes a habit of making inappropriate or entirely incorrect statements. Whether he’s insulting his political adversaries or simply spouting disinformation about a foreign conflict he doesn’t understand, Donald Trump makes a fool of himself on the regular. This article is a collection of ten of the stupidest things the president has said while in office.
Joe Biden and Transgender mice
On March 4 2025, Donald Trump addressed a joint session of Congress, making a speech that was filled with nonsensical word vomit. Part of the pool of bile was a comment about ‘transgender mice.’ According to Trump. Former US president Joe Biden had spearheaded a program that attempted to turn mice transgender. According to Trump, the project cost $8 million. The kicker? The program was for transgenic mice, not transgender mice. Transgenic mice are genetically modified mice that have had foreign DNA (the transgene) inserted into their genome. These are normally human cells that scientists use to try to find cures for genetic diseases. Don’t worry, Donny; we get it- words are hard.
Trump claims Denmark has no claim over Greenland
Before we break down this statement, we need to clarify something: Greenland is a self-autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. While Greenland has the autonomy to elect leaders, change its laws, and make other governmental decisions, it remains under the control of Denmark. This means Denmark has control over Greenland’s foreign policy, defence, and monetary policy. With that simple geopolitics lesson, you officially are more of an expert than U.S. President Donald Trump! On March 13, 2025, Trump said: “You know, Denmark’s very far away, and really has nothing to do. What happens? A boat landed there 200 years ago or something? And they say they have rights to it. I don’t know if that’s true. I don’t think it is.”
Wholly untrue, and undoubtedly stupid.
Hard-boiled math
America’s affordability crisis was a top-button issue during Donald Trump’s latest election, and eggs were a hot-button issue as they had steadily risen in price over the last three months. On March 13, 2025, Trump commented on egg-gate and made claims that nobody could back up. According to Trump: “”I don’t know if you saw. Little things such as the cost of eggs – little to you, but big to the people out there. Down almost 30 per cent, in the last, eh, few days.”
The claim was easily disproved by anyone with an internet connection. The actual stat? Egg prices had RISEN 28 per cent since Trump took office. At some point, one must wonder where the line between confusion and lying rests.
Who signed this deal!?
Tariffs have been a major theme of Donald Trump’s second term as president. During Trump’s first term, he abolished NAFTA, the trade agreement between Mexico, Canada, and the US. Trump called NAFTA ‘the worst deal ever signed,’ so he renegotiated. The result was CUSMA, a new agreement that was slightly more favourable for the US than the last. When Trump was elected for a second term, he took one look at CUSMA and decided it was no good. What’s more is that Trump called it an awful deal. The president mused aloud on February 24, 2025, “I look at some of these agreements, and I say, who would ever sign a thing like this?”
Well, Don, you did. You signed it. In fact, your team wrote most of it.
Beware the windmills!
Donald Trump’s distaste for renewable energy is well documented. From the iconic ‘drill baby drill’ to his coal plant bailouts, Trump loves his pollutants. During his war on windmills, Trump has made a slew of wild (and incorrect) claims about the energy source. None have surpassed his comment on January 7, when he claimed: “You see what’s happening up in the Massachusetts area with the whales … The windmills are driving the whales crazy, obviously.”
… Ah yes, the windmills are scaring the whales.
Obviously.
Citizenship misstep
Donald Trump has been vocal with his criticism of birthright citizenship, the legislation that gives people the right of citizenship if they are born in the US. This right has defined the US for centuries and can be found in the first section of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. For Trump, all that birthright citizenship means is an opportunity for immigrants to become Americans. When speaking with NBC in December 2024, Trump showcased his excellent understanding of the amendment. Trump claimed: “Did you know, if somebody sets a foot – just a foot, one foot, you don’t need two – on our land, congratulations, you are now a citizen of the United States of America”
Did you know? That comment is entirely incorrect and certainly… stupid.
Bring on the purge!
This one is wild, even for Trump. At a rally in Pennsylvania in September 2024, Donald Trump implied that a purge-style day for the police would effectively curb the rising crime rate in the country. Trump specifically cited the rising cases of theft and shoplifting when championing the idea. According to Trump, if you gave police officers “one really violent day” to tackle crime. “If you had one really violent day.. .. … One rough hour. And I mean real rough. The word will get out, and it will end immediately.”
This one is hard for any reasonable person to grasp. The president of America wants to turn the country into a horror film… sure, ok cool.
The King of the Shake
Donald Trump made a bizarre claim while on his way home from the Middle East in May 2025. While aboard Air Force One, Trump claimed that he had shaken more hands than any human is capable of.
“I’ve shook more hands than any human is capable of doing.”
Honestly, we couldn’t tell you what this even means. Either he’s implying that there’s a cap on the number of hands a human can shake, or he’s finally admitting what we’ve all suspected: Donald Trump is not human.
America’s grass expert
While speaking at the Kennedy Centre in August 2025, Trump went on one of his more notable tangents. This time, grass was the target of Trump’s tirade. According to the president, all the grass in America will die at some point, as grass lives and dies as humans do.
“You know, grass has a lifetime like people have a lifetime, and the lifetime of this grass has long been gone. When you look at the parks where the grass is all tired, exhausted. We’re going to redo the grass with the finest grasses. I know a lot about grass”
You heard it, folks, this is a man who knows a lot about grass.
Drug-addled math
In another example of Donald Trump’s impressive grasp of numbers, we have a quote from August 2025. While being asked what advice he has for Republicans on Capitol Hill heading into the midterms, Trump claimed they should bring up the impressive drug prices his government has created. According to Trump, his government had cut drug prices by impressive amounts: “You know, we’ve cut drug prices by 1,200, 1,300, 1,400, 1,500 per cent.”
It’s easy to see how this statement makes less than no sense. If Trump had managed to cut the price of a drug by 1,500 per cent, the pharmacist would have to pay you to take it! If the drug in question cost $100, a price decrease of 1,500 per cent would mean it’s now retailing for $-1,400. While the thousands of Americans who die every year from a lack of medication would be glad if this were the case, unfortunately for them it’s not.
Is this a soft launch for universal healthcare?
