Russian troops are approaching a lithium deposit in Ukraine, as Trump leaves very few options for Zelensky

For the past few days, Ukraine has been facing a critical situation, exacerbated by Donald Trump’s closeness to Putin and his controversial statements. 

On the ground, Russian troops are dangerously advancing towards an important lithium deposit, threatening the country’s strategic resources.

This progression jeopardizes Ukraine’s mineral resources, while Trump maintains a vague position on the conflict and intensifies attacks against President Zelensky.

According to several sources, the Russian forces, which have occupied about 20% of Ukrainian territory since the beginning of the conflict, are now less than 6 kilometers away from a significant lithium deposit located in Shevchenko, in the Donetsk region.

According to Ukrainian sources, the Russian army is advancing toward this strategic site from three distinct axes and could soon manage to almost completely encircle it.

Several days earlier, Trump had demanded that Ukraine cede 50% of its mineral resources to the United States in exchange for military aid, an offer that Zelensky refused. Will Trump now seek to let Russia take control of Ukraine in retaliation?

This vast lithium deposit in Ukraine is located at a depth that, according to experts, would allow for profitable extraction, thus providing Ukraine with a strategic position in the market.

This mine is located in the heart of one of the territories annexed by Moscow in this conflict, an annexation deemed illegal by Kyiv and Western powers, including the United States… before Trump’s return to power.

The sudden turnaround of Trump and his harsh attacks against Zelensky have, unsurprisingly, been applauded by Russian officials.

As European allies of Ukraine, alongside Canada, reaffirm their support against the unjust invasion, Trump makes numerous controversial statements, sowing division within NATO.

Ukraine now finds itself in a deadlock, facing a double threat: Russian military aggression and the political pressures from Trump, who has been undermining its alliances since the beginning of his term in favor of the adversaries of the United States.
