Tesla was kicked out of the International Auto Show in Vancouver

Prior to making this decision, Tesla had «several occasions to withdraw voluntarily» from the event, according to the General Manager of the Show, Eric Nicholl.

Mr. Nicholl pointed out that the withdrawal of the electric car manufacturer owned by Elon Musk does not stem from political motivations.

He ensured that this decision is rather based on a «primary concern» for the safety of workers, visitors and exhibitors.

«This decision will ensure all attendees can be solely focused on enjoying the many positive elements of the event», said Mr. Nicholl.

The automobile exhibition started on Wednesday, March 19, and will continue until next Sunday at the Vancouver Convention Centre. According to the show’s website, 100,000 people attend the event each year. According to CNN, the show attracted a record number of 130,000 visitors last year.

Over the past few weeks, several protests called «Tesla Takedown» have taken place in the United States and Canada.

The purpose of these protests: to denounce the political interference of Elon Musk, advisor to the American president, Donald Trump, currently engaged in a trade war with Canada.

Musk is at the head of the Government Efficiency Department (DOGE), which has the mission to cut government agency spending and reduce federal staff.

About twenty protesters gathered in front of a Tesla dealership in Surrey, British Columbia, on March 16. A similar protest was held in Vancouver the day before.

Tesla is also the target of vandalism acts. On Tuesday, a person dressed in black shot and set fire to several Tesla vehicles at a dealership of the brand in Las Vegas, reported the police authorities.

In addition to the mobilizations against the CEO of Tesla, a parliamentary petition is calling for the revocation of Musk’s Canadian citizenship, which he acquired through his mother, who is originally from Saskatchewan.

Tesla has recently announced its first decrease in annual sales since its creation. According to a study by CarGurus, the prices of used Tesla cars have also decreased. In fact, the prices of used Tesla cars have dropped by 7.3% in one year, while the prices of used cars in general have decreased by 2.7%.
