The death of Mr. Navalny, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s most formidable opponent, prompted condemnation from world leaders and accusations from his aides that he had been assassinated. The Kremlin denied any involvement in his death. Mr. Navalny was 47 years old.

The Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery earlier this year and revealed that cancer had subsequently been discovered. She said she was receiving preventive chemotherapy and asked that her privacy and that of her family be respected.

According to reports, a work crew was repairing potholes on the bridge, which is used by around 30,000 people every day, when the ship struck the bridge at around 1:30am. The accident led to the temporary closure of the Port of Baltimore, one of the largest and busiest on the US East Coast.
