The hospitalization of Pope Francis continues and many are worried in the Vatican

Despite his hospitalization, the 88-year-old pontiff does not have a fever and has “had a peaceful night,” according to the spokesperson for the pope.

He seems to also be «in good spirits» and even continued his work, according to at least one source close to the Vatican.

According to Italian media, the Pope continued to call members of a Catholic parish in Gaza last Friday and Saturday.

This hospitalization occurs at the beginning of the jubilee year of the Catholic Church, which features numerous events presided over by the pope.

On Friday, after his morning audiences, he was admitted to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome for additional treatment for persistent bronchitis.

The Vatican did not specify when Pope Francis would leave the hospital, but confirmed the cancellation of his weekly general audience next Wednesday.

This is the fourth hospitalization of the pontiff in less than four years.

He has faced numerous health issues in recent years, such as hip problems, knee pain, respiratory infections, a severe hematoma, and surgery to prevent an intestinal obstruction.
