In 2002, the Pats traded Drew Bledsoe to Buffalo. This gave Tom Brady a free hand to lead the Patriots' offense. Despite this, New England missed the playoffs.

In 2012, Tom Brady signs a contract extension. He accepts a pay cut to leave room under the salary cap for his team. He will still earn 27 million for the 2015-2016-2017 seasons.

The 2014 season opens with a loss for Tom Brady, his first since 2003. It closes, however, with another Super Bowl ring, his fourth, and a third Player of the Game award. Brady joins his childhood hero, Joe Montana.

February 2016, Tom Brady signs a new two-year contract with the Patriots. This ensures that the club will have its star player through the 2019 season.

The Pats certainly don't regret the new contract given to Brady. By the end of the season, he leads his team to victory, earning his 4th Super Bowl ring. Trailing 28-3, the quarterback makes the biggest comeback in history and New England wins 34-28.

The 2017 season is off to a good start for Tom Brady. He is chosen to be the cover star of the video game Madden. Unfortunately, the season doesn't turn out the way he would like. The Pats lose in the Super Bowl final to the Philidelphia Eagles.

In 2018, Tom Brady is back to winning the title of most successful player in football after the previous season's failure. In Week 15, he surpasses the 70,000 career passing yard mark. In the playoffs, he leads the Patriots to another Super Bowl conquest, his record sixth. At 41, he is the oldest quarterback to win the title.

August 2019, heading into his 20th season with the Pats, Tom Brady agrees to a new contract. The deal pays him $35 million (U.S.) per year.
