Trump is still angry at the female bishop who dared to confront him

Donald Trump left, visibly angry, a prayer service organized as part of the activities related to his inauguration, which he and his family were required to attend.

During the prayer service on January 21, attended by Donald Trump, his family, Vice President J.D. Vance, and his wife, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde delivered a powerful speech addressed directly to the president and his administration, urging Donald Trump to show compassion towards certain members of society who are living in anxiety during these uncertain times.

In the highlights of her speech, she called on Trump and his administration for national unity, inclusion, and compassion. She emphasized the moral responsibility of leaders to protect the most vulnerable members of society, including refugees, immigrants, and marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+.

Budde also highlighted the importance of social justice and called for easing the fears and divisions that characterize American society, emphasizing that many of them had placed their trust in Trump.

As the speech progressed, Trump appeared visibly uncomfortable and annoyed by this sermon. With a solemn tone, the bishop urged him to “open his heart.” Recalling his statement from the previous day, where he claimed to have been “saved by God” to restore America to its greatness, she urged him to use this power to promote empathy and encourage reconciliation in a political and social climate that she described as profoundly uncertain and troubled.

This speech provoked an immediate reaction from Trump, his family, and J.D. Vance, who appeared either sulky, irritated, or upset by the remarks throughout the bishop’s speech.

The event garnered wide media attention due to the bold and direct tone of the bishop. When he left, questioned by journalists about his feelings regarding the speech delivered during the prayer service, Trump expressed his discontent by stating: “I didn’t think it was a good service” and “they could do much better.”

Later, Trump exploded on Truth Social, demanding public apologies from the bishop and her church, labeling Mariann Budde as a “left-wing radical,” a “so-called bishop,” and a “fierce opponent of Trump.”

Trump accused her of having a ‘mean’ tone and stated that her speech was neither ‘convincing nor intelligent’.

Trump criticized the bishop for not mentioning in her speech “the large number of illegal migrants who have entered our country and committed crimes.”

However, the bishop had emphasized in her speech that the majority of the people for whom she called Trump to show compassion were ordinary individuals, holding the most demanding jobs in the country and paying their taxes as good citizens.
