Trump: “They don’t know what they’re doing”

US President Donald Trump has assured that the ceasefire between Israel and Iran still stands, shortly after accusing both countries of violating the agreement. “ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly Plane Wave to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect!”, Trump posted on Truth Social.

A few minutes before this statement, however, he had accused the two countries of violating the “complete and total” ceasefire he had initially announced.

Just before he left for the NATO summit in the Netherlands, Trump told reporters at the White House, “We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the (expletive) they’re doing.”

“Israel as soon as we made the deal, they came out and dropped a boat load of bombs the likes of which I’ve never seen before,” he said, before adding: “The biggest load that we’ve seen, I’m not happy with Israel. Ok, when I say now you have 12 hours, you don’t go out in the first hour and just drop everything you have on them. So I’m not happy with him. I’m not happy with Iran either.”

“I don’t like the fact that Israel went out (bombing) this morning, and I’m going to see if I can stop it. As soon as I get away from you, I’m going to see if I can stop it,” he told reporters before heading for his helicopter.

The ceasefire came into effect after 12 days of war and US air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The Israeli government announced that it had accepted the American proposal for a “bilateral ceasefire” with Teheran. It asserted that the objective of the war it launched against Iran on June 13 – to prevent the Islamic Republic from acquiring atomic weapons – had been achieved.

Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian confirmed the entry into force of the truce via the official IRNA news agency: “Today, after the heroic resistance of our great nation, whose determination makes history, we are witnessing the establishment of a truce and the end of this 12-day war imposed by Israel’s adventurism and provocation”, declared Pezeshkian.
