Legendary music producer Clive Davis dead at 94

Clive Davis, one of the most influential music executives and producers in modern entertainment history, has died, NYT reports. 

He first rose to prominence as president of Columbia Records in the late 1960s, where he helped launch the careers of artists such as Janis Joplin, Santana, and Bruce Springsteen. 

After founding Arista Records in 1974, he played a key role in the success of Whitney Houston, Barry Manilow, Alicia Keys and many others. 

Known for his ability to identify and develop talent across multiple genres, Davis has shaped popular music for more than six decades and remains a legendary figure in the industry. 

He was 94.
