The Weeknd takes two more steps toward establishing himself as the most important artist on the planet, having just been confirmed as the world’s most popular artist by the Guinness World Records Committee!

With his huge popularity, the Canadian singer became the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify, easily surpassing Miley Cyrus, in 2nd place, with just over 82 million listeners.

In addition, the man whose real name is Abel Tesfaye was also just recently confirmed as the most listened to artist every month on the same platform.

According to Guinness, the star can thank TikTok and the release of his Die For You remix in collaboration with Ariana Grande, which quickly went viral on social networks and exploded his number of listeners on various streaming platforms… including Spotify. The monstrous success of Blinding Lights is also a big factor in the whole thing.
