Eleanor Harvey charmed everyone in Canada! The Hamilton, Ontario native won Canada’s first ever fencing medal in the history of the Games. Ranked 12th, Harvey beat reigning world champion Alice Volpi of Italy in the bronze medal duel.

Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray won bronze in synchronized diving (10m). The Canadians beat Mexico in a tight battle for bronze. It was Canada’s first-ever medal in this event!

After finishing fourth in this event at last year’s World Championships, Toronto’s star swimmer won two places on a bigger stage! Summer won silver in the 400m freestyle.

Christa Deguchi won Canada’s first-ever judo gold medal. Top-ranked Deguchi beat South Korea’s Mimi Huh in the final, reversing the result of the world championships earlier this year. What a moment!

It was a dominant performance in McIntosh’s best event, the 400m medley. The Canadian won by more than five seconds to claim her second medal of the Games… this time in gold!

Canada gave defending champion New Zealand a scare before finally losing out in the final. Canada upset France in the quarter-finals and Australia in the semi-finals to secure the country’s best result in this event in its Olympic history!
